Reface and the Environment
These days we are constantly reminded of the importance of recycling in the fight against climate change.
At Reface Scotland we believe that throwing away perfectly usable kitchen units should be avoided if at all possible.
Refacing your kitchen instead of completely replacing it can make a huge difference to the amount of waste your renewal project sends to landfill. You can get a great new look by simply replacing your door fronts, drawer fronts and worktops. You can usually even keep the tiles and flooring that you already have instead of going to the expense and hassle of ripping everything out.
If you are considering replacing your kitchen ask yourself whether there's anything that you could keep. Most kitchen units are made from MDF or chipboard which, unlike solid wood, are completely stable and won't bend or warp over time. They will actually last longer than solid wood yet are usually ripped out and sent to landfill only to be replaced by something exactly the same. Crazy!
When we plan your kitchen we try our best to incorporate as much of your existing kitchen units as possible. Very occasionally one of the units (say at the sink or washing machine) has suffered from water damage or a lot or wear and tear. We can replace it with a high quality 18mm unit. However, it's likely that the rest are absolutely fine, why replace them as well? Simply screw on a new door or drawer front and your done!
Refacing your kitchen cuts down massively on waste and gives you the satisfaction of knowing that in your own small way you helped in the fight against global warming.
